Fabian Schar has had a very eventful summer. After the Premier League season finished, he was named in Switzerland’s 26-man squad for the 2020 European Championships and played in four of their five games before their exit from the quarter-finals.
After the tournament departure, Schar enjoyed himself with partner Alexandra at Mykonos, having date nights and quality time together. The pair have been celebrating a three-year anniversary this summer and his latest Instagram story post shows him on the beach while enjoying the sunset together.
The 29-year-old had an uncertain future at Newcastle, but he’s since signed a new deal to end any speculation. Schar has made 74 appearances in all competitions since joining the Magpies from Deportivo La Coruna in 2018, scoring seven goals with one assist.
Pre-season has begun, but Schar’s return will be later than his Newcastle teammates as he’s had a summer tournament to play which has eaten into his holiday.
Newcastle are expected to face York City and Harrogate Town in exhibition games on July 18, but they might have come too soon for the Swiss defender to feature.
