Newcastle’s Bazoumana Toure backed by Emmanuel Eboue as ‘younger brother’

Emmanuel Eboué has backed Bazoumana Touré’s attacking qualities as the Newcastle United winger looks to establish himself on Tyneside.

Speaking to Live Football Tickets, in comments reported by Chronicle Live, the former Arsenal defender described his fellow Ivorian as someone he has known since childhood.

“Bazoumana is like my younger brother. He’s my boy,” Eboué said.

“He is very quick and technically very good.”

Toure returns with more international experience

The Newcastle winger has just completed an international window that brought appearances against Ghana, Somalia and Cameroon.

Newcastle’s official roundup records that Touré scored in stoppage time during Ivory Coast’s 2-0 victory over Somalia.

He then started Saturday’s friendly against Cameroon, playing until shortly after the hour mark in a 1-0 defeat.

Those outings give him further competitive experience before Newcastle resume their Premier League campaign at Coventry City on Monday 12 October.

His next challenge is turning that involvement into a more substantial club role. Newcastle already have competition for attacking places, with Harvey Barnes’ case for a Coventry start examined in our latest analysis.

For Touré, the immediate opportunity may come through making an impact when Matthias Jaissle turns to his bench.

Eboué’s endorsement adds a personal perspective on the winger’s ability. The more significant test will be whether Touré can make his next Newcastle opportunity count, building on the goal and starting appearance he collected with his country.
