Today’s Newcastle United talking points include a player who wants move to Spain and a €100m transfer being close

Newcastle United have endured a tough start to this summer transfer window. Unfortunately, it looks like things are not about to get any easier for them. Most of the news around the club right now is about potential departures.

Of course, we already know about the situations of Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes. I have heavily covered them on the Read Newcastle website for the past few days. But they are not the only players who could be looking to leave.

One such player seems to be pushing for a move to Spain and has closed the door on any other opportunities. On the other hand, a €100 million move seems to be getting closer to completion. And there is more.

Newcastle United wants move to Spanish club and nowhere else

Newcastle United’s goalkeeping ranks could look very different come next season. They have already sign Ewen Jaoeun from Reims. And a move for James Trafford of Man City could be on the cards as well.

On the other hand, Nick Pope could be on his way out. And a forgotten Magpies goalie seems to be hoping to engineer a move to Spain as well.

Odysseas Vlachodimos was signed by the club from Nottingham Forest for £20 million but has never played a league game for the Magpies. He spent the previous season on loan at Sevilla.

Now, it looks like he is eager to return to the Spanish club. So much so that reports have emerged in Spain suggesting that Odysseas has issued an ultimatum to Newcastle United. He has closed off any other option than reaching an agreement with Sevilla.

€100 million transfer getting closer

There seems to be some development when it comes to the Tonali situation as well. It looks like the Italian midfielder is now closing in on a move to away from Newcastle United to join Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs have been very ambitious with their transfer activity this summer. They are set to sign Mateus Fernandes, which had led many to question whether signing Tonali would still be on the agenda.

It looks like a move for Fernandes is not going to affect their pursuit of Tonali. In fact, if reports are on the mark then a €100 million-plus transfer move to Tottenham is now getting close.

Chelsea join race to sign striker Newcastle want

There is some more bad news for Newcastle United. Reports in recent days had suggested that the club wanted to sign Falorin Balogun from AS Monaco this summer.

The striker has impressed with his displays at the World Cup though. And now, it looks like Chelsea are also taking interest in the American striker.

Chelsea already have Joao Pedro, Liam Delap and Marc Guiu. Nicolas Jackson is returning from a loan spell at Bayern Munich. And Emmanuel Emegha will be joining from Strasbourg. So, if they want to add another striker, they will need to go of potentially multiple first.

That could open the door for Newcastle to make a move for Delap. The Magpies have been linked with the English striker, alongside Everton.
