Since the beginning of March, there have been several reports that Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali could be on his way out of the club. Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed significant interest on his YouTube, suggesting the Magpies ‘expect potential movement this summer.’

The sale of the Italian would be a huge blow to the Tyneside outfit, and it also looks like Tino Livramento could be departing the club this summer, with links to right-back replacements.

With Eddie Howe’s side still in competition for a chance to play in Europe next season, the rumours from within the 25-year-olds camp about leaving come across as disrespectful towards Howe’s side.

Tonali interest heating up

The Italian is currently on international duty, where his goal against Northern Ireland kept Gli Azzurri’s World Cup dreams alive.

However, even as he prepares for his playoff final against Bosnia & Herzegovina, he has continued to be linked with a move away from St James’ Park.

It seems Premier League rivals, Manchester United, are ramping up their interest in the Magpies midfielder, as they look to build a competitive squad as they are set to qualify for the Champions League once again.

There have also been reports that he has a ‘gentlemen’s agreement’ with the club’s hierarchy, similar to Alexander Isak, to leave if they fail to qualify for Europe.

Romano reports that this is a massive deal for the Italian, as he wants to play in the elite competitions, something the Black and Whites may not be able to offer him next season.

“Tonali appreciates the idea of returning to a bigger European stage if all parties align, so this one will be worth keeping an eye on.”

However, it’s not just Man United beginning to put pressure on Newcastle, as Romano also believes there is a chance a return to Italy could be on the cards.

Newcastle Should Be Insulted

The St James’ Park outfit are common to transfer tactics and rumours circulating about their players.

The Isak situation taught the club a lot, something that perhaps they weren’t familiar with before that transfer, while Anthony Gordon has seen interest from Liverpool and Arsenal over the past week.

However, a big difference has been how the Italian’s camp has acted since the news.

Midway through March, Tonali’s agent said that it was ‘the goal the moment he went to England’ when asked about interest from the Red Devils, Arsenal and Manchester City.

While the season for the Tyneside outfit has been far from ideal, Howe deserves the respect from the Italian for the remainder of the campaign.

Not only do they still have an outside chance of European qualification, but the Magpies stood by the Italian following his football ban due to betting breaches.

Tonali should repay the English managers’ faith in him by at least giving his all in what could be his final moments in the Black and White of Newcastle.
