Saint-Maximin goes viral after seeing funny side to cynical foul against Liverpool

Newcastle United drew 1-1 with Liverpool on Saturday, equalising late through Joe Willock after Mohamed Salah gave the Reds an early lead. But it was Allan Saint-Maximin who stole the headlines after the game for his humorous reaction to a cynical foul from Fabinho.

After BT Sport tweeted a video of the Brazilian midfielder going out of his way to shoulder barge Saint-Maximin to the floor as he was dribbling past him, the Newcastle wide-man tweeted a GIF of a dizzy boy with a caption to sum up his reaction to be bundled over.

Saint-Maximin then added a tweet to his response, saying: ‘Still best mate @_fabinhotavares, even tho (sic) I wished you had a red card ngl.’ Fabinho was booked for the foul, but many have argued it deserved a red because he didn’t come close to playing the ball and only had eyes on bringing down his opponent.

Nevertheless, Saint-Maximin’s response to the video had many laughing. The 24-year-old is very active on social media and often has tweets that go viral after games. He’s not afraid to have debates with supporters either, so his relationship with fans is very strong.

Saint-Maximin has scored three goals and made five assists in 20 Premier League games this season, spending a large portion of the campaign sidelined due to calf and groin injuries.
