Newcastle United make move for AC Milan player
According to MilanNews24, Newcastle United have made a concrete move for Fikayo Tomori. They have presented AC Milan with an initial offer of €15 million for the English centre-back.
The AC Milan management is carefully evaluating the offer from Newcastle United. However, they continue to value him at €20 million, including bonuses.
It looks like there is a €5 million gap between what AC Milan want and what Newcastle United have offered. One would hope that it won’t end up proving to be a roadblock in this deal.
Tomori is the kind of player Newcastle United could do with right now. He has a ton of experience under his belt. Yet, he is only entering his prime on the pitch. That feels like the perfect foil for a club that seems to be building around youngsters now.
Why Tomori would be a good signing for Newcastle
Tomori has experience of Premier League football already. He came through the youth ranks at Cobham and played a decent bit of football for Chelsea under Frank Lampard.
While he was not able to establish himself as a key player for the club in the long run, he has had his fair share of success in AC Milan colours. He has been a regular for them for more than five years now.
That has seen him make more than 200 appearances for the Italian giants and he even won the Serie A with them on one occasion. At the international level, Tomori has six caps for England to his name.
Of course, in the past, AC Milan have shown that they will stick to their asking price, even when there is only a year left on a player’s contract. We saw that with Mike Maignan last summer. So, if the Magpies want Tomori, they might need to shell out that €20 million fee.
