Willock posts on social media after joining permanently from Arsenal

Joe Willock has joined Newcastle United on a permanent deal from Arsenal and took to social media to post his delight at making the switch. The 21-year-old also reposted the positive comments and well-wishes from friends on Instagram, so it’s clear he’s excited about what’s to come at St James’ Park.

Willock is an academy graduate of Arsenal, so he made a big call to leave his boyhood club for Newcastle. His reasons are solid, however, and supporters on both sides believe he’s made the right decision for the sake of his career.

The England youth international made 78 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal but wasn’t commanding a starting place under Mikel Arteta after falling behind Granit Xhaka, Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey in the pecking order.

Willock joined Newcastle on loan in February and scored eight goals in 14 games, flourishing with more opportunities from Steve Bruce, so it was a no-brainer for him to stay in the North-East.

The outpouring of love from friends and supporters is just what Willock needs to start the season strong at his new club too.
