Newcastle United make decision on Matthias Jaissle future at Newcastle United

Matthias Jaissle Newcastle United

Newcastle are 13th in the Premier League table and seriously out of form, with four defeats from their past five games in all competitions.

After a troubling start to life in the Premier League and difficult results, the pressure is on Matthias Jaissle. The Magpies manager has managed just 3 wins in the season and currently sits in 13th place with 11 points.

Despite the pressure, Newcastle United are planning to stick by Matthias Jaissle despite growing unhappiness with his position as manager.

Following back-to-back defeats against Everton, first away from home in the Carabao Cup and then in the Premier League at St James’ Park, frustrations have grown again among supporters.

Despite the poor run, former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown believes the Newcastle United hierarchy remain convinced that Jaissle is the right man to lead the club forward.

Newcastle board remain behind Matthias Jaissle

Speaking to Football Insider, Brown revealed that Newcastle are not considering an immediate change in the dugout and remain hopeful the German can turn their season around.

“Newcastle have been pretty firm with their decision to stick by the manager,” Brown told Football Insider.

“There’s obviously been a lot of talk about him and a lot of anger from the fans, because they want to be winning games and fighting higher up the table.

“But Newcastle aren’t worried at the moment, they want things to improve but they will feel this manager is the right man to turn things around.

“When he was brought in, it was with the idea that he would be around for a long time and get them back to competing at the top level, so they’re still hopeful he can do that.”

Newcastle reluctant to admit Jaissle appointment was wrong

Brown also believes Newcastle will be reluctant to make another managerial change so soon after appointing Jaissle as Eddie Howe’s successor.

“Part of that decision is that they won’t want to admit they got it wrong, because he was they one they immediate wanted when Howe decided to leave in the summer.

“To make a change just a couple of months later is just admitting they got it wrong, and they’re going to be reluctant to do that.

“So for now, I think Jaissle still has the full backing of the board at Newcastle and they hope he will turn things around, even if recent results haven’t been good enough.”

With the support from the Newcastle board, Matthias Jaissle now needs to deliver an improvement on the pitch. Newcastle’s recent results have increased the pressure on the manager to get his side back to winning ways. There is only one way back from here and that is starting winning.
