Livramento suffered the setback on the eve of Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Hull City at St James’ Park on September 19.
The full-back had only recently returned from another spell on the sidelines before picking up his latest injury.
The 23-year-old missed the final five games of last season with a hamstring problem before returning this season to make three appearances from the bench. However, his latest setback has kept him out of action for several weeks, and it is now more than six months since he last started a game for the Magpies.
Newcastle United boss Matthias Jaissle has refused to put a timeframe on Tino Livramento’s return as the defender continues his recovery from a knee injury.
Jaissle provides Tino Livramento injury update
Speaking ahead of Newcastle’s midweek Carabao Cup meeting with Everton, Jaissle was unwilling to provide a specific return date for the defender.
“I don’t want to give too much in detail, as I don’t want to put too much pressure on him first of all, but also not on the medical department,” Jaissle said.
“This is usually my approach when it comes to injuries.
“I can just assure you that I see him every day with a great professionalism in the rehab, hard-working. Hopefully we have him back soon and then also hope that he’s stable in his approach when he’s joining us.”
Newcastle keen to avoid another Livramento setback
Livramento’s injury record has become a concern, with the defender struggling to put together a consistent run of appearances over the past few months.
His return will be important for Jaissle, particularly given the options he provides at right-back. However, Newcastle will not want to rush him back only for another injury to haunt them as they face a difficult spell in the Premier League.
Newcastle United face Everton next on Monday Night Football as they will be looking forward to avenging their midfield Carabao Cup exit to Everton.
