Newcastle United want to sign midfielder with 21 goal contributions in 20 games

This summer, we saw a very different approach from Newcastle United in the transfer market. It was a clear showcase that the policy had changed from win now to building something sustainable in the long run.

The Magpies have brought in players largely in their early 20s or late teens this summer. As a result, one would expect them to continue looking for options who fit that profile.

So, it makes a ton of sense that they are now being linked with a Norwegian number 10 who has been involved in 21 goals in 20 league games this season so far.

Newcastle monitoring move for Bo Hegland

According to Transferfeed, Newcastle United is one of the clubs that could make an approach for Bo Hegland. The Magpies are said to be monitoring the Norwegian ahead of a potential transfer.

But for now, Newcastle United are expected to continue watching the player to assess if he could become a future addition to their squad.

Hegland has enjoyed a breakout season at Djurgarden. In 20 league appearances this season, he has scored seven goals and provided 14 assists on top of that.

Either would have been very impressive. But put together, he has 21 goal contributions in 20 league games for Djurgarden in the ongoing Swedish season.

Easy to see why Newcastle United are eyeing the Norwegian midfielder

So, it is very easy to see why someone like Hegland has caught the eye of the Magpies. Now, it remains to be seen whether they end up making a move for him or not.

There is no reason to believe that they won’t continue to monitor him moving forward. But one would imagine that those numbers are going to attract the attention of several other teams.

A lot might end up depending on the transfer fee as well. While Hegland’s numbers are tremendous, one has to remember that they have come in Sweden. So, let’s see how things transpire.
