Newcastle United legend Peter Beardsley is extremely confident that the Magpies will stave off the threat of relegation this season.
Currently managing the U-21 side, the now 54-year-old scored an astounding 108 goals in two separate spells on Tyneside.
United went the first eight games of this season without registering a single win, and weak capitulations to Leicester City and Crystal Palace led many to believe that they were doomed for relegation.
But, in the last two weeks, Newcastle emerged victorious against both Liverpool and Tottenham, and the squad now has newfound belief and confidence in abundance.

Beardsley believes that Steve McClaren’s resurged side have the ability to avoid the drop, as he told the Chronicle:
We will be all right. I never thought we’d be in trouble, I genuinely didn’t.
To be fair to the manager, Ian Cathro, Alessandro Schoenmaker, Paul Simpson and Steve Black, they are doing all the right things.
It is a results business and we have to win. If we keep winning, we will be fine.
The former United midfielder has been involved with the club for a lengthy period of time, and his mesmerising displays in a black-and-white shirt a few decades ago made him a fan favourite amongst the Geordie faithful.
It’s Aston Villa up next for the Magpies, and a win in that game would go a long way to making people agree with the words of Beardsley.
