Newcastle United are among the clubs monitoring Manchester City defender Cameron Humphreys, according to the Daily Mail.
The 16-year-old has been training with the senior team since returning from his summer break and featured in the pre-season friendlies against Melbourne City and Real Madrid.
His growth as a player since joining the Sky Blues last summer has not gone unnoticed by Premier League clubs, with Manchester United and Everton also joining Newcastle in the chase.
Steve McClaren is reportedly looking to add two players to his development squad this summer and the Magpies’ scouting team believe Humphreys has got what it takes to succeed and develop into a Premier League standard defender.
Humphreys is currently on a youth contract, as players are not allowed to sign professional contracts until they are 17-years-old, meaning Newcastle could swoop and land the starlet for a minimal fee – though the first-team opportunities with the Citizens are likely to keep Cameron happy with life in Manchester.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are expected to hand a contract to Dutch youngster Dani Koks as he has impressed on trial so far.
