Newcastle United not only need to make signings this summer but they need to add genuine quality to the squad. They might have a lot to replace. Anthony Gordon has already left for Barcelona. Also, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes are being linked with moves away.
Newcastle United could certainly do with a bit more quality in the forward areas. Alexander Isak left for Liverpool last season, and now they no longer have Gordon either.
On the other hand, some of the signings they have made lately have not worked out. Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa were not able to fill the void of Isak up top.
On the other hand, Anthony Elanga’s big-money addition proved to be a mistake. He did not score a single goal in the Premier League last season. Not much else needs to be said. Fortunately, it looks like a quality winger is set to be available this summer and Newcastle United must try to make it happen.
Newcastle United should try to sign winger with PSG seemingly open to move
PSG are back-to-back Champions League winners, only the second club ever to manage that feat. Naturally, they have an elite squad.
But that also means that some quality players do not get the game time they feel they deserve. One such player could be on his way out this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Bradley Barcola’s future is not decided yet as talks over a new deal have been on stand-by for one year. Liverpool are very keen and Arsenal have his name on the list as an alternative to top target Morgan Rogers. PSG could let him go but only in the case of a big proposal.
Of course, that opens the door for Newcastle United to potentially make a move for Barcola. He might not be a starter for PSG but he would immediately be one of the Magpies’ main players, if they were able to sign him.
Why Newcastle should sign Bradley Barcola
Barcola has been great for PSG when given a chance. Let’s take last season as an example. He scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in less than 3000 minutes of football. Those are excellent numbers for a winger.
Also, he has been impressing with his displays for France at the ongoing World Cup. He has two goals and an assist in just two starts at the tournament.
If you can start for the current France national team at the World Cup, you should be good enough to start for most Premier League teams right now, if not all.
The competition for his signature could be a bigger problem for Newcastle United then the potential transfer fee it would take. Arsenal and Liverpool have been named as interested clubs. There could be others monitoring the situation in the background.
