Newcastle United are coming off an underwhelming season, considering the standards they have set for themselves in recent years. They finished 12th in the Premier League and were poor throughout the campaign.
Obviously, Eddie Howe has played a major role in setting those aforementioned standards. He has brought domestic silverware to Newcastle United after 70 years. Yet, a large portion of the fanbase appears to have lost their trust in the English manager.
And as it turns out, it might not be just the players. It appears that some high-profile players might not be happy with Howe’s recent work.
According to The Sun, Lewis Hall is unhappy with how Howe managed him in Newcastle United’s run-in. He believes that cost him a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England World Cup squad.
Lewis Hall is not happy with how Eddie Howe managed him last season
That will be a worry for Newcastle United fans for sure. Hall has been linked with a move away from the club in recent times as well.
There is no doubt that Hall is one of the club’s best players. On his day, he is the best in the Premier League in that left-back position.
The fact that he was not included in Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup came as a surprise to most fans. Hall will now have to four more years, just to get that chance again.
So, if he is not happy with Howe and wants to push for a move away this summer, it would make things very difficult for Newcastle United.
Manchester United and Chelsea interest will worry Newcastle United
Manchester United are believed to be interested in signing him. Chelsea might try to bring back the Cobham graduate as well, having seen Marc Cucurella join Real Madrid recently, leaving a gap in that left-back position.
And one would imagine that more options would crop up, if someone as talented as Hall wants to secure a move away from St James’ Park in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Newcastle United fans will be hoping that the situation settles down and nothing ends up happening. As things stand, they already have a lot to be worried about.
Anthony Gordon has joined FC Barcelona. Sandro Tonali is being linked with a move and has been on the receiving end of a bid from Tottenham Hotspur. Bruno Guimaraes could be eyeing the exit door as well. And now, it looks like Howe might seek a move away too.
