- Newcastle United linked with Jarrod Bowen transfer
- West Ham expected to sell for £50 million
- Dani Dyer reluctant to leave London
It’s not often the glitter and glamour of the showbiz world impacts the dealings of football clubs in the summer transfer window but Newcastle United could face difficulty landing one reported target.
West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen seems destined to leave the London Stadium following his side’s relegation to the Championship. The 29-year-old has scored 65 goals and registered 54 assists since arriving in the Premier League in 2020.
Bowen has been Mr Consistent even when the Hammers have struggled, earning 22 England caps since his Three Lions debut in 2022. The winger has 117 appearances worth of Championship experience thanks to time at Hull City, but will no doubt be looking to return to the top flight.
West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen targeted by Newcastle United and Chelsea
Bowen has been heavily linked with a move to St James’ Park. The Sun‘s latest update also names Chelsea as potential suitors with an offer of £50 million widely believed to be enough for the Hammers to green light a sale as they look to cut down the wage book.
The Magpies are in the market for a new winger following the departure of Anthony Gordon to Barcelona but it would be somewhat of a surprise to see Bowen pursued given his age.
Even if Newcastle do lock in on targeting the West Ham man, there may be another obstacle in the way. Heat World report on Tuesday that Bowen’s wife Dani Dyer has been left ‘devastated’ by the West Ham relegation and the prospect of Bowen needing to move away from the capital.
Dani Dyer ‘devastated’ by West Ham relegation
A source tells the publication: “It’s been one of the worst weeks of Dani and Jarrod’s lives.
“Dani is doing her best to try to make things better, but he’s absolutely devastated. She’s never seen him like this.
“Jarrod will be 30 this year, and this was probably his last chance to go to a World Cup. And although he does want to stay at West Ham, he doesn’t know what the future holds.
“The whole Dyer family want Jarrod to stay, so he’s feeling the pressure – but he needs to do what’s best for him. He’s been linked to Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle, which would mean a move up north – something Dani isn’t very keen on. Danny [Dyer, Dani’s father] will be devastated if he leaves West Ham, too, and a move up north would really twist the knife.”
Bowen’s decision on his future could hinge on what is best for his family – the couple have twins Summer and Star, as well as Santiago from Dani’s previous relationship.
It’s added that an extra complication could be Dani’s involvement in BBC hit show Strictly Come Dancing. The former Love Island contestant was forced to pull out of the 2025 series due to an ankle fracture, and is rumoured to be returning to the line-up this year.
That would anchor the family to London, potentially boosting any Chelsea hopes of a deal. The Heat source explained: “If Dani does Strictly, she’d ideally need to be close to London – and will want Jarrod nearby to help out. But playing in the Premier League means a better salary and a better career.”
