Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento could end up at Arsenal rather than Manchester City this summer. The English defender’s future at St James’ Park is in doubt amid a superb spell that has caught the eye of Pep Guardiola and, now seemingly, Mikel Arteta.
Livramento is regarded as one of the Premier League’s best full-backs, and he’s been one of the first names on Eddie Howe’s teamsheet. He has made 21 appearances across competitions, contributing one assist.
The 23-year-old will have two years left on his contract this summer, but is heavily linked with City. A move to the Etihad has seemed the likeliest next destination should he leave the Magpies.
Arsenal now eye Livramento

That might no longer be the case following a report from Jason Burt of The Telegraph, who claims that Arsenal have set their sights on Livramento. Mikel Arteta isn’t exactly short of options at right-back, with Jurrien Timber and Ben White battling it out for the starting berth.
The Gunners seem keen to win the race for the England international and, as such, are “considering a summer offer.” It’s an interesting turn of events, given Guardiola looked most likely to land the player if a transfer exit were to occur.
| Tino Livramento (Premier League 2025-26) | Statistic |
|---|---|
| Appearances: | 13 |
| Goals: | 0 |
| Assists: | 1 |
| Interceptions: | 0.5 |
| Tackles per game: | 1.5 |
| Successful dribbles: | 0.8 (42%) |
| Ground duels won: | 3.1 (56%) |
Burt suggests that claims over City’s renewed interest in Livramento have been “played down” by senior figures at the club. Guardiola has used Matheus Nunes at right-back in recent seasons and might not feel signing a full-back is a priority.
How much do Newcastle want?
Newcastle are demanding around £60m to sell Livramento. Contract talks between the player and the club have are on hold.
Livramento joined the Magpies from Southampton in August 2023 for a deal worth up to £40m. He has grown into one of the most highly-admired full-backs in English football.
A potential sale would be a blow for Howe, who has been keen to keep hold of his star players in recent seasons. But the lure of joining a Premier League title challenger might prove too tempting.
Livramento will need to be replaced if he is sold, and it’s crucial that the club’s transfer chiefs are prepared for his potential exit. He has been an important member of Howe’s side in recent seasons, including in the Carabao Cup win last year.
