‘Here we go’ – Fabrizio Romano confirms next Newcastle United signing

Newcastle United have faced a flurry of bad news in the transfer market over the past few weeks. Sandro Tonali has left for Tottenham Hotspur. Anthony Gordon is now a Barcelona player. Bruno Guimaraes seems keen on a move to Arsenal.

The Magpies’ quest to replace them has not quite worked out either. Victor Munoz seemed like the top target but ended up joining Liverpool instead. More recently, a move for Johan Manzambi has collapsed. A deal had been agreed with SC Freiburg but the player wanted to join Aston Villa instead.

So, it is safe to say that things have not gone as Newcastle United would have hoped. And they have a ton of work to do over the coming days and weeks.

There is some positive news though. It looks like Newcastle United are now about to sign a winger from Premier League champions Arsenal.

Fabrizio Romano confirms Newcastle United are set to sign Arsenal talent

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sign winger Kyran Thompson from the Arsenal Academy. The move is ‘here we go’.

Thompson has agreed to join the Magpies among five proposals, leaving Arsenal as a free agent. The deal is in place and he is a new talent for Newcastle.

Of course, Arsenal have produced some of the best young players in the Premier League through their academy system in recent years.

It is very clear that Newcastle United will be hoping that Thompson ends up on that list. There are clearly high hopes surrounding the young winger.

Who next for Newcastle?

It is quite clear that Newcastle United have adopted a new strategy this summer. They are looking to add more youth to their squad.

Bazoumana Toure has been brought in from Hoffenheim. He is 20 years of age, just like Ewen Jaouen, who has been signed from Reims. And Sean Steur, brought in from Ajax, is 18 years old.

Johan Manzambi is 20 as well. But unfortunately, that move is no longer on the table. It will be very interesting to see who Newcastle United end up bringing in instead.

Will it be another youngster? Or would it be someone with a bit more experience under his belt? There have been hints that it could be the latter, with the growing speculation around Danilo of Botafogo. Of course, he has already played in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest.
