Plans are being put in place for a regeneration project at St James Park ahead of the club’s major decision.
The Telegraph understands that the decision will be made later this year on whether Newcastle will stay at St James Park or move to a brand-new stadium at Leazes Park.
There is controversy over building a new stadium on top of Leazes Park due to its green space being located in the middle of the city.

Newcastle representatives have been talking with Government officials over securing public money for this project.
Public money wouldn’t be used on a new stadium, but instead, would help support the surrounding area of the stadium.
The club are looking to put money towards the regeneration of the local area but looks for public funding to boost their initial plans.
These plans will look to improve several areas, which include transport infrastructure in the city, along with retail and business buildings.
The new businesses are expected to bring about new job opportunities to the area, which is expected to be in the thousands.
The cost of the stadium, whether that is the regeneration of St James Park, or building a new stadium, could cost the club in excess of £1 billion.
Newcastle recently bought land to construct their new £200 million training complex.
Both a new training ground and stadium development were key aspects of the Saudi Public Investment Fund when they bought the club in October 2021.
Magpie supporters are expected to be made aware of a decision before a final proposal is put in place.
