Newcastle fans on social media resigned to losing Hayden amid Watford links

Isaac Hayden wanted out of Newcastle in the past as he was desperate to be closer to his family in the South-West, but a move never materialised and he ended up signing a long-term deal in September 2020 instead.

The 26-year-old’s contract runs until 2026, but it doesn’t appear he’ll stay at St James’ Park for another five years as Football Insider say Watford stand a chance of landing his signature.

Supporters on social media seem resigned to losing Hayden. They feel he will jump at the chance to move further south and think Watford will land their man if they match his asking price.

Newcastle are currently 18th in the Premier League without a point from their first two games, having lost 4-2 to West Ham United and 2-0 to Aston Villa, so it’s easy to see why a player would want to leave.

The Magpies have Joe Willock, Sean Longstaff, Jonjoe Shelvey, Jeff Hendrick and the out-of-favour Matty Longstaff, so they have options in Hayden’s stead.

And although money is tight in the North-East, Newcastle can put any transfer money towards a replacement, so they could bring in another face before the transfer window shuts.

In other news, there’s been little reaction on social media as Newcastle are linked with Ozan Kabak
