Newcastle United has endured a difficult start to the season, with Matthias Jaissle under pressure over his job.
The Magpies have not been helped by injuries either and as Jaissle waits for Tino Livramento back from the treatment table, a new problem has emerged.
Arsenal and Manchester City are both keeping tabs on Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento, if the situation over his contract doesn’t change.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle will consider offers for the England international if they cannot make progress in contract negotiations.
Both Arsenal and Manchester City have attempted to sign Livramento in recent years but have been denied by Newcastle. The Newcastle defender remains highly rated across the Premier League and is considered one of the best young full-backs in the country when fit.
Newcastle want to secure Livramento’s future
According to reports on his contract situation, Newcastle are hoping to agree an extension with the England international before the end of the season.
The 23-year-old remains highly regarded at St James’ Park and has also earned recognition with the England senior team. He was named in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad that went on to finish third but ultimately missed out due to an injury.
If anything has kept him from being at his best, it will be the injuries. His injury record is one of the biggest talking points at Newcastle United recently. Tino Livramento was only fit enough to start 14 Premier League games last season and has managed just 33 league minutes so far in the 2026-27 campaign. Yet his talents have convinced the club that they are keen to tie the defender to a new deal.
Liverpool also admire Newcastle defender
Liverpool have also been linked with an interest in Livramento, with journalist Ben Jacobs previously discussing the defender’s qualities.
Speaking to the Born ‘N Red YouTube channel, Jacobs said:
“Liverpool have always had appreciation for Tino Livramento, who is capable of playing right-back and left-back.
“He’s a player I expect Newcastle United to put available on the market.”
Newcastle United will be keen to avoid losing another highly rated player, but the defender’s injury record and contract situation could make the coming months important. The club must now decide whether they can secure his long-term future or consider offers from interested Premier League rivals.
