Newcastle United Women made it five WSL2 wins from five with a 3-0 victory at Durham, taking their points tally to a perfect 15.
Hildur Antonsdóttir, Jordan Nobbs and Martha Thomas scored at Maiden Castle as Tanya Oxtoby’s side extended their unbeaten league start with another clean sheet.
Antonsdóttir opened the scoring in the 34th minute, giving Newcastle a one-goal advantage at the interval.
Nobbs doubled the lead after 65 minutes before Thomas added the third in the 87th, completing a winning afternoon against their North East neighbours.
The match centre records all three goals.
Newcastle turn strong start into five straight wins
Sunday’s result follows victories over Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bristol City, Sheffield United and Leicester City.
Newcastle have now scored 14 goals and conceded just once across their opening five league matches, keeping four clean sheets.
That combination gives Oxtoby plenty of encouragement. Her side have collected every available point while showing they can win both tight matches and games settled by larger margins.
Thomas also continued her scoring run after hitting twice in Newcastle’s 4-0 victory over Leicester.
Her late finish at Durham takes her to five goals across Newcastle’s last three league fixtures, following successive doubles against Sheffield United and Leicester.
With Antonsdóttir and Nobbs also on the scoresheet, Newcastle shared the goals around again while protecting their advantage at the other end.
Five matches into the league campaign, Oxtoby’s side have maintained the consistency their promotion ambitions demand.
