Newcastle United Women maintained their perfect WSL2 record with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Leicester City at Gateshead International Stadium.
Charlotte Wardlaw opened the scoring after 12 minutes before Martha Thomas struck twice in three second-half minutes.
Aoife Mannion then completed the rout deep into stoppage time.
Sky Sports’ match centre confirms Thomas headed home Jordan Nobbs’ delivery in the 67th minute before adding her second just two minutes later from Beth Lumsden’s assist.
Martha Thomas continues remarkable Newcastle form
Thomas has now scored four goals across Newcastle’s last two WSL2 matches after also netting twice in the 4-1 victory over Sheffield United.
Her partnership with Lumsden had already been one of the major reasons behind Newcastle’s excellent start, with Read Newcastle analysing their growing attacking influence earlier this week.
Sunday provided another statement.
Nobbs also made an impact from the bench by creating Thomas’ first goal, while Jessie Gale returned to action late on following her recent return to first-team training.
The result gives Tanya Oxtoby’s side four wins from four, with 11 goals scored and just one conceded.
Newcastle now quickly turn their attention to Wednesday’s Subway Players Cup trip to Aston Villa.
