Sky Sports confirm Newcastle United’s second deadline day move

Deadline day is upon us. And some big moves can happen. Enzo Fernandez could end up joining Manchester City. That would inevitably mean Chelsea would sign a replacement. Clubs like Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool could remain active as well. But amid all this, Newcastle United are making a splash as well.

Earlier in the day, Sky Sports had confirmed that Matias Fernandez-Pardo has completed his Newcastle United medical. The club have paid £51 million to sign him from Lille.

On the other hand, it is not going to be the only high-profile move that Newcastle United are involved in on this deadline day of the 2026 summer transfer window.

Another Newcastle United deal close to completion

According to Sky Sports, Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade is due to arrive in Turin this morning to undergo a medical with Juventus.

The German has been given the green light to join Juventus on a season-long loan, with no option or obligation to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the deal. Juve will pay a £3.5 million fee.

Obviously, the arrival of Fernandez-Pardo is what opened the door for Woltemade to complete this move to Juventus. And on paper, it makes sense for all three parties involved.

Why this move makes sense for everybody invovled

Woltemade does not look like a starter in Matthias Jaissle‘s plans at this point in time. Even in the game against West Bromwich Albion, he was not able to put his mark and impress the coach.

Yoane Wissa has looked a lot more impressive in recent weeks. And the arrival of Fernandez-Pardo means that Woltemade will slip further down the pecking order.

So, leaving on loan is not the worst idea in the world. Woltemade will be hoping to rediscover his confidence and form in a different system and environment. Juventus could provide him with that.

As for Newcastle United, if Woltemade does well away on loan, it would give them a chance to move him on for a significant transfer fee in the future. As things stand, they could not have hoped to recoup much of the £69 million they shelled out to sign him just last summer.

Finally, Juventus get a player who was considered one of Europe’s best rising strikers just a year ago. It did not work out at Newcastle United. But that does not mean it will be the same in Turin.

In the long run, what does the future hold for Woltemade? Well, that is almost impossible to predict. But this does put him in a better position than he would have been if he continued on at Newcastle United.
