Newcastle United U-turn, reject offer for player Matthias Jaissle wants to keep

Newcastle United fans must be delighted with how the Magpies have started this season. It had looked like they were on the wrong path, having seen key players like Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon leave.

Longtime manager Eddie Howe decided to walk away in the middle of pre-season as well. So, it felt like everything was falling apart at Newcastle United.

But now, it looks all positive. A draw against Liverpool has been followed up with a League Cup victory against West Brom Albion. And then came a win away from home in the Premier League against Tottenham Hotspur.

Just like that, the mood has been turned around amongst the fans. And now, there is another positive sign that Newcastle United are headed in the right direction.

Newcastle United’s U-turn to reject offer

According to Craig Hope, Newcastle United have rejected an offer of around £10 million from Nottingham Forest for Jacob Murphy.

The offer landed over the weekend but Matthias Jaissle wants to keep the experienced winger. There is a chance that the move is revisited on deadline day, but it is thought to be unlikely as it stands.

This is an interesting turn of events. For most of the summer transfer window, it was thought to be likely that Murphy would be on his way out of Newcastle United.

But it looks like the arrival of Jaissle has added a new wrinkle to his story at St James’ Park. Of course, the German manager might be just as keen to keep his experience as he is when it comes to his quality.

Newcastle United need to back Jaissle

Even in this sort span of time, Jaissle has shown that he is capable of leading this team into the future. The club must back him. And keeping someone like Murphy around is the least they can do, if the manager wants it that way.

Of course, Newcastle United are showing their backing in other ways as well. It was just earlier today that they agreed a deal to sign Matias Fernandez-Pardo from Lille.

He is expected to be officially announced as a new Newcastle United player tomorrow. And it is very interesting that he can play both as a striker and on the wings.

On the other hand, an exit has been sanctioned as well. Nick Woltemade is set to swap the black-and-white jersey of Newcastle United for that of Juventus, at least for this season. It is a loan deal without any option or obligation attached to it.
