- Newcastle United 2026/27 kit ‘leaked’ online
- Magpies yet to confirm new design
- Supporters react to ‘barcode’ stripes
For Newcastle United fans, the end of the season cannot come soon enough. European football now looks a far cry and Eddie Howe has his side struggling to play with any real commitment to the badge.
A big summer clearout is on the cards and Magpies supporters won’t be too sad to see certain first team stars shown the door after an apathetic approach to the 2025/26 campaign.
Over the coming months, excitement for the new campaign will continue to build as Newcastle look to return to the Champions League without the distraction of regular midweek action next term.
Newcastle United 2026/26 kit ‘leaked’ online
With a new season, of course, comes a new kit. Newcastle United still haven’t released their shirt for the 2026/27 season but an image of what is could look like has supposedly been leaked.
Football kit experts Footy Headlines have circulated an image of the new kit. The black and white stripes remain ever-present but could be handed a twist that will ruffle some feathers.
The image circulating online shows that Adidas could go for a thick black stripe straight down the middle of the shirt with the width shortening as the stripes move outwards. There’s also a thick blue stripe along the shoulder blades and the end of the sleeves.
Newcastle are not expected to confirm the kit design before the end of the season with discussions still ongoing over a new kit sponsor. The current deal with Saudi sports event agency Sela expires this summer with the club working to improve on the £25 million per season income that has provided.
Magpies fans react to ‘barcode’ design
Recently online, NUFC Gallowgate asked whether the strip could be the ‘worst shirt we’ve ever had’. One X user replied: “Abysmal- I wouldn’t wear it if was free!”
There were several Newcastle fans who were quick to liken the design to that of a barcode in some humorous messages. One said: “This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen? Rocking up like a barcode every week.”
Another added: “Scan the shirt at your local supermarket for a 1% discount. It’s horrendous.”
Others were more positive and embraced the change. One social media user said: “I don’t mind it, only so much you can do with stripes, if we don’t have green/white I’ll be happier.”
Ultimately, whatever the design of the kit, it’s the performances in it that need to improve next season and that wasn’t lost on many fans. One summed up: “Hardly worth getting upset about, what matters most is who is wearing the shirt on match day, and quality/commitment of said players, getting recruitment right, a new training ground & stadium, plus commercial income are all more important imo.”
