Newcastle United may just be an attractive enough proposition to garner the interest of highly-rated winger Mykhaylo Mudryk.
That is according to Ukrainian football expert Andrew Todos, via ChronicleLive.
Speaking to the Tyneside outlet, Todos illustrated Mudryk’s similarity to Allan Saint-Maximin:
“He’s also keen on incorporating flair into his game too but not to an overkill extent. He does remind me of Saint-Maximin, but a bit more direct in terms of playing style.”
Prompted as to whether a move St James’ Park could be on the cards, the Ukrainian expert said via the same source: “If Newcastle were to qualify for the UCL in the summer then it quite possibly could appeal to Mudryk. He was allegedly not overly keen on a move to Brentford as a result of their lack of European football.
“It seems Champions League football is one of his priorities as his chances to immediately break into the first team. With the way Howe’s side play with a focus on the wide players to create often and even provide goals; Mudryk would be a good fit.
“The question would then lead to whether he could displace Saint-Maximin.”
Todos’ big £87M claim
The latest admission from Ukrainian football expert Todos serves as a major boost for what is an £87million, highly-rated asset
Nine attacking returns in the form of four goals and five assists across seven appearances have seen the 21-year-old burst onto the scene this season.
And, it gets better.
The young Ukrainian is Champions League-obsessed and has loved his time in the competition this season, scoring three goals and garnering two assists in six appearances for Shakhtar Donetsk, who found themselves in a tricky Group F.
With the direction that Newcastle are heading in, there is no reason why they cannot make cement their spot in the top four, come the end of the season.
If they manage such a feat, it may be enough for Mudryk to make the switch to Tyneside and partake in the Newcastle project
