Newcastle have Youri Tielemans on their radar heading into 2023, according to a report from 90min.

Back in August Tielemans had been on Newcastle’s ‘list for a while,’ according to Daily Mail journalist Craig Hope, but no deal materialised before the transfer window closed.

However, with his contract at Leicester City expiring at the end of the season his future is still uncertain and the Toon will seemingly revisit a deal.

With the Foxes struggling at the foot of the Premier League table it could help the Magpies in their attempts to land the Belgian midfielder.

While James Maddison will be the club’s priority this January, Newcastle are keen on his teammate.

90min have claimed that both players are in PIF’s ‘sights for 2023.’

The source suggests that Howe is a huge admirer of Tielemans and that he won’t be signing a contract extension at the King Power Stadium.

It also states that with the 25-year-old able to leave on a free next summer he could be available for less than £20m when the market reopens this winter.

Brendan Rodgers has praised him for his “outstanding” talent and called him “one of Europe’s” top midfielders.

But signing the 52-cap ace won’t be straightforward.

According to Calciomercato (via TeamTalk) Serie A giants Juventus are interested, while Erik ten Hag is said to have requested the signing of the midfield dynamo at Manchester United this January.

Praised as a “top, top-class player” by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola, Tielemans would be a snip at his reported valuation considering he has played 127 times in the Premier League.

However, with a steady stream of suitors, it remains to be seen whether or not Newcastle can secure his signature.
