Fans on social media react positively as Newcastle appoint Eddie Howe

Newcastle United confirmed the appointment of Eddie Howe on a two-and-a-half year deal and fans on social media have reacted positively to the news. The 43-year-old was unattached after leaving Bournemouth by mutual consent in the summer of 2020.

Howe first managed the Cherries between 2008 and 2011 but spent eight solid years at the John Smith’s stadium from 2012 following a failed stint at Burnley. He led them to promotion from League One to the Championship and Premier League, consolidating in the top flight for five years before their relegation.

Before Howe was confirmed as Newcastle’s new manager, there were criticisms levelled at him for his poor spending at Bournemouth, but he’s believed to have really impressed the board in his interview so things may be different at a new club.

Howe has already taken charge of a training session and has the international break to cast an eye on his players, so there’s plenty of time before he needs to prepare for his first game.

There will be lots of scrutiny coming as Newcastle have lofty ambitions following their lucrative takeover, but fans believe they have the right man in charge.
