Freddie Woodman posts a ‘new chapter’ on IG following takeover

Everyone in the football world appears to be talking about Public Investment Fund (PIF), PCP Capital Partners and RB Sports & Media’s takeover of Newcastle United and the players have been no different.

Paul Dummett, Allan Saint-Maximin, Federico Fernandez and Martin Dubravka have taken to Instagram to share their thoughts on the move and Freddie Woodman is another that’s published on social media.

The 24-year-old put up a picture on his Instagram story, calling the takeover a ‘new chapter’ and revealing his excitement for the future. Whether Woodman will play a part in Newcastle’s future remains to be seen, however.

He hasn’t commanded a regular starting place since joining from Crystal Palace in 2013, making only nine appearances in eight years while conceding 18 goals, so there may be better goalkeepers out there for the Magpies.

Karl Darlow has taken over the reigns at Newcastle while Martin Dubravka recovers from injury, so the writing may be on the wall for Woodman. Newcastle are now the richest club in the world and are sure to upgrade in every position, so their goalkeeper situation could be affected.

United have already been linked with Keylor Navas, so time will tell which players are kept and which ones are moved on.
