Newcastle fans lament Lee Ryder’s assessment on Ryan Fraser

A number of Newcastle United supporters have lamented the latest suggestion by Chronicle Live reporter Lee Ryder that Ryan Fraser’s recent struggles could be down to him being unhappy at St James’ Park.

Fraser was brought in on a free transfer from Bournemouth last summer, with the Magpies hoping that he could add some extra attacking flair to their squad. However, he has so far made just 14 Premier League appearances and six starts (Sofascore), which has not been helped by a spell on the sidelines over the festive period.

The 26-year-old scored one goal and provided four assists for a struggling Bournemouth side last term (Sofascore), but so far he has just one assist to show for his time at St James’ Park, averaging a mere 0.4 shots per match (Sofascore).

Steve Bruce has often bemoaned the fact he has not been able to play Allan Saint-Maximin and the winger together, starting both of them just once in the same line-up. Fraser got the chance to impress from the bench against Manchester United for 35 minutes on Sunday, but he had just eight touches in an ineffective performance.

Ryder has suggested in a recent Everything is Black and White podcast [via @ChronicleNUFC on Twitter] that Fraser’s form for Newcastle could well be down to being unhappy at St James’ Park under Bruce.

Newcastle fans react to Ryder’s assessment of Fraser’s situation

Many Newcastle fans were left frustrated that Fraser has not been used properly by Bruce and could now be unhappy with his situation, while some suggested that he may not be the only player feeling that way.
