A number of Newcastle supporters have been reacting to Leeds suffering a heavy 6-2 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday, a few days after they emphatically turned over the Magpies.
Marcelo Bielsa’s team went into their clash at Old Trafford in positive spirits following their comprehensive 5-2 demolition of Newcastle last week. However, it was their turn to be on the wrong side of a number of defensive errors at Old Trafford and they were punished on the counter-attack for leaving spaces behind when on the front foot.
Newcastle’s performance in their defeat at Leeds had already enraged many Magpies supporters, while Steve Bruce’s comments after the game that they had been well in the contest until the closing exchanges did little to transform the mood. Neither did the frustrating and negative display against Fulham in their 1-1 draw on Saturday.
However, many Magpies fans may be questioning things even more now having watched Leeds get pulled apart with ease by Manchester United, who pressed them high and looked to break at speed. Similar tactics would have served Bruce’s side much better during their clash with the Whites at Elland Road, rather than the did little to transform the mood.
Newcastle fans react to Leeds’s Old Trafford thrashing
Many Newcastle fans were quick to point how just how bad an “indictment” it was of the Magpies to have been turned over so easily by Leeds last week, while there were some who were keen to point out that it is a reflection of the issues with Bruce’s approach.

A team that put 5 past us is being systematically dismantled by a team that's deemed to be struggling with a terrible manager. How poor does that make us? #NUFC
