Following the confirmation of a deal to sign Florent Indalecio after a successful trial at the club, the 23-year-old Frenchman has had some interesting things to say while speaking to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The former Saint-Etienne man, who is close friends with Toon star and fellow Frenchman Allan Saint-Maximin, says he’s determined to prove his worth at Newcastle that he’ll “play for free”, insisting the club will not regret giving him a one-year deal at St James’ Park.
After spending time playing for Fraser Park’s in the lower echelons of Sydney’s football leagues, Indalecio was given the opportunity to impress Newcastle staff after being recommended by Saint-Maximin.
On his French companion, the man signed for the Magpies U23 side said: “He’s (ASM) a real friend. He gave me the chance, he spoke to the club about the trial. I was doing well and they signed me.”
The report also mentions the Frenchman was once so desperate for work he began working two labouring jobs a day, now he’s scoring world-class overhead kicks in training for a Premier League clubs.
Indalecio, also stated: ”They (NUFC) will not regret signing me because I know I will help the team and I will try to give my best.”

Whilst there’s no chance we will see the newest Newcastle striker anytime before Christmas with the 25 man squad already being named, it will be interesting to keep an eye on his performances for the Under 23’s as the Frenchman tries to kickstart his career.
Indalecio could well make his first appearance when the young Toon side faces West Brom on Friday afternoon in the Premier League 2.
