Ex-Newcastle United midfielder Gary Speed is to be inducted into the national Football Musuem’s Hall of Fame, celebrating a distinguished career in football as a player and manager, according to a report on Chronicle Live.
Speed played for five different clubs during his career and made 841 appearances all together.
The National Football Museum in Manchester has decided to make the late midfielder the 11th former Newcastle player to be added to the Hall of Fame.

Speed was part of the Newcastle side which managed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League on two occasions and also helped the Magpies to reach the FA Cup final twice.
Speed was well known as being a gentleman and an all round good guy and has not been forgotten by his previous clubs, which include Leeds, Everton, Newcastle, Bolton and Sheffield United.
Speed also won the title with Leeds in 1992 and held the Premier League record for appearances, after notching 535. That record has since been broken by four players.
The ex-Wales manager tragically lost his life in 2011 at the tender age of 42.
As well as Speed, the National Football Museum are inducting nine further football luminaries today, including Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Billy Bonds, Bob Wilson, Kelly Smith, Rachel Yankey and England/Team GB Cerebral Palsy pioneer Alistair Patrick-Heselton.
