Newcastle target Kalidou Koulibaly’s agent has revealed that there is little chance of his client joining the Magpies in January due to the fact that his current club Napoli are at a ‘higher standard’.
There had been various reports of the powerful Napoli defender possible moving to Tyneside, however, these links have been denied by the player’s agent, Bruno Satin, in a recent interview with Radio CRC, posted by The Chronicle.
“When the right time comes we may discuss a renewal, but if Napoli want to keep him then they have to consider the fact that Newcastle United could offer an even better deal,” Bruno said.
“It’s normal though that they [Newcastle] will, of course, try their best to sign him when they are trying to escape relegation whilst Napoli are aiming to win the league.”

There has been a host of clubs that have shown interest in Koulibaly in the last year, such as fellow Premier League clubs Southampton and Norwich, but it seems as though Napoli is the location that the defender is settled in.
Although there has been plenty of speculation surrounding Koulibaly’s potential move to Newcastle, The Chronicle state that defensive reinforcements are not high on January’s agenda. The club are also said to be ‘mystified’ by the agents comments.
