Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini has warned his teammates that if they are to stay up this season, they must learn how to fight for their survival hopes and do whatever it takes to remain in the Premier League.
United’s skipper has spoken of his concerns regarding his side’s inexperience in a scrappy relegation battle, claiming that many of the squad are unsuited to the frantic fight for survival.
Newcastle will go into the new year in the relegation zone after they sunk to an away defeat at West Brom, losing 1-0 due to a Darren Fletcher goal.
As quoted by the Mirror, the Magpies’ club captain said:
It’s a different experience for them but they have to know this is very difficult. It’s a tough Premier League season and it’s going to be tougher if we don’t do the right things.
Steve McClaren will be hoping that his side can get 2016 off to a get good start as they prepare to take on top of the league Arsenal on Saturday.
