Newcastle boss Steve McClaren has urged midfielder Cheick Tiote to stay at Newcastle for the foreseeable future, writes the Daily Star.
This news emerges following reports that the Ivorian midfielder is actively looking for a move away from St. James’ Park.
Tiote, once a regular starter for Newcastle, has endured a difficult year in football due to drops in form and interruptions in playing time as a result of niggling injuries throughout the seasons.

It is believed that McClaren is a big fan of Tiote’s tough tackling abilities and is hopeful to see more of the 29-year-old throughout the course of the season.
One club that has reportedly taken an interest in signing Tiote is Turkish giants Galatasaray, as they look to bolster their options in midfield. However, McClaren is not looking to offload the powerful midfielder any time in the near future.
Tiote has made an impressive 124 appearances for Newcastle since joining in 2010, scoring just one goal for the club – a memorable goal at that!
