In an interview with French news outlet L’Equipe , Moussa Sissoko has reiterated his desire to remain at Newcastle as he can ‘flourish’ and receive game time on Tyneside.
Sissoko has flirted with a possibility of leaving the Magpies ever since signing for the club in January 2013, repeatedly confessing his desire to play Champions League football one day.
Arsenal, Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain are said to be among the clubs that hold an interest in the French midfielder, though Newcastle are yet to receive a formal offer from any side for Sissoko’s services.
With the January transfer window right around the corner, many expected Moussa Sissoko to depart from St James’ Park, but his most recent comments to L’Equipe (as translated by Get French Football News) seem to suggest otherwise.
Sissoko said: “I am happy to be at this club [Newcastle United].
Even if the results are not great at the moment, it is a club where I can flourish and where I have a lot of playing time.
“I am lucky to play in England. It is there where I have always wanted to play because it is in this league where I can flourish the most with my abilities.”
He added: “My aim was to become a professional footballer. I got the chance to sign my professional contract and play at a very young age. I have always had my family close to me. I try to enjoy that fully… My family is very proud to see me at this level. I came from a difficult place, so I hope and aspire to go further and higher.”

Moussa has been one of Newcastle’s most potent attacking threats this season and has assisted four goals this season – more than any other Newcastle player [Ayoze Perez and Gini Wijnaldum are joint second with two].
His fine start to the season has seen Didier Deschamps reward him with game time for the national team. With the Euros at the end of the season, Sissoko will be doing all he can to secure a place in Deschamps’ 23-man squad, alongside such stars as Paul Pogba and Karim Benzema.
