Woodman set for second loan exit

Woodman set for second loan exit

Promising Newcastle goalkeeper Freddie Woodman is set to spend another temporary period of time away from St. James’ Park, according to the Chronicle (reported by HITC).

Woodman was forced to return from his scheduled loan spell at Crawley Town in October, after Newcastle’s first and second choice keepers Tim Krul and Karl Darlow were struck down by injury – leaving the Magpies with just one fit and available stopper in the form of Rob Elliot.

However, now that Darlow is nearing full fitness, the Magpies will look to send the inexperienced 18-year-old out on loan once again to aid his development.

Woodman received high praise for his mature and confident displays during his brief eleven game stint at Crawley, with many fans labelling the Croydon-born stopper as one of English football’s brightest young talents.

After showcasing his talents in League Two, it would come as no surprise to see clubs of a higher level swoop for Woodman – and a number of Championship sides are likely to be interested in acquiring the England u19 international’s services.
