Wolves target exciting Toon prospect

Championship club Wolves are reportedly keen on signing Newcastle United’s hot-shot striker Adam Armstrong, who is currently on loan at League One side Coventry City.

The 18-year-old forward has been in prolific form since moving to the Ricoh Arena in July and is currently League One’s top scorer, after netting 12 goals in 14 games for the Sky Blues.

However, Armstrong’s loan spell with Coventry is due to expire as the January transfer window comes around, meaning that other clubs are beginning to circle like sharks in an attempt to secure his services for the remainder of the season.

Many Newcastle fans have called for the in-form striker to return to the club in order to bolster Steve McClaren’s attacking options . However, with Newcastle’s form improving slightly after an important 1-0 away victory against Bournemouth, Armstrong is set to be loaned out again.

Newcastle boss McClaren has been impressed with Armstrong’s form and is keen to see if the striker can make the step up to the Championship after excellent displays in the division below, meaning that Wolves most definitely fit the bill for the young Geordie.

Given the fact that Armstrong is merely 18-years-old, his goalscoring record at League One level is very impressive and it has rightly earned him many plaudits. If he can perform at the same level in a higher division, it will be clear to see that Newcastle have an extremely promising striker on their hands.
