According to reports, Newcastle United are preparing to offer Werder Bremen £15 million for 23-year-old central defender Jannik Vestergaard.
The Magpies are aiming to sign the Danish international in the January transfer window, looking to improve their struggling side.
The team currently sit 17th in the Barclays Premier League and will have to cough up a rather large fee in order to capture Vestergaard.

It’s understood that the German side are reluctant to lose the giant Dane. However, a large offer could be enough to acquire the services of the 6’7 defender.
It is yet to be seen if Steve McClaren will be willing to fork out £15m for the in-form defender, despite the Magpies’ defensive problems.
McClaren said he would be eager to introduce more players into the northern side in order to improve his club’s fortunes.
United will be rivalled to the signing by Slaven Bilic’s West Ham who are also believed to be interested in the defender.
Vestergaard has gathered 13 appearances for his German team this season, who uncomfortably sit 14th in the Bundesliga table.
