As Moussa Sissoko continues to impress, Newcastle United were preparing a new and improved contract to reward the Frenchman for his efforts.
However, the Magpies may be forced to reconsider their plans to tie him down to a new deal with Sissoko demanding £100,000-a-week, according to The Mirror.
Sissoko has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current contract and is reportedly keen to commit his future to the Magpies, but reported interest from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain has given him some leverage to negotiate with.
Even if Newcastle manage to lower Sissoko’s demands slightly, the 26-year-old is expected to become the club’s highest-paid player.
So far this season, Sissoko has failed to find the back of the net but has assisted four times – making him the club’s top creator.

His attacking presence, combining with Georginio Wijnaldum, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Ayoze Perez, has transformed Newcastle’s season from what looked destined to be long and relegation-threatened.
From three points in their first eight games, Steve McClaren’s side have vastly improved and secured seven points in their last four games – which has seen them rise to tenth in the Barclays Premier League form guide.
