Valdes’ agent opens door to January move

Newcastle have received a boost in their hunt for Tim Krul’s stand-in, as Gines Carvajal, agent of Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes, has confirmed his client will be leaving Manchester United in the January transfer window.

The Chronicle‘s Craig Johns had already confirmed the Spaniard’s interest in joining Newcastle on loan in January, following an cruciate ligament injury sustained by Tim Krul whilst on international duty, which has ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

Despite Craig’s claims, fans were sceptical over whether former World Cup winner Valdes would be interested in joining Premier League strugglers Newcastle

Talking to Radio Marca, Gines said: “He’ll have a chance to play in January, wherever he goes.

He needs to go to a place that feels right for him.

Valdes had been tipped for a return to his home country, Spain, to play out his final days, but his agent also denied such claims: “He won’t be coming to Spain, unless he decides otherwise.”

While neither Valdes or his agent have publicly declared an interest in joining Newcastle on loan, the chance to end his Manchester United nightmare and play Premier League football every week in front of 52,000 on Tyneside must be tempting.
