French striker Emmanuel Riviere is set to stay at Newcastle, despite rumours of an impending loan exit on the horizon.
According to the Chronicle, the former Monaco forward will be handed a chance to show what he can do with better support behind him. There were murmurs that Wolves were keen on signing Riviere on a loan deal, after they lost Nouha Dicko to a long-term injury. It is understood that Steve McClaren and his coaching staff are eager to see how Riviere can fit into their style of play.

Since arriving for a fee of £5m last summer, the Frenchman completely bombed, having only scored one goal in the Premier League. He has been battling a recurring knee injury since McClaren was appointed and hasn’t been given the opportunity to strut his stuff in the new-look Newcastle team.
Many fans think that Manu could kick on this season, with the likes of Gini Wijnaldum, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Florian Thauvin helping him out.

With Riviere set to continue as a Newcastle player, the club are highly considering loaning out young Ivan Toney. He arrived from Northampton Town in the summer for a fee of around £500,000, and perhaps consistent first-team football would benefit the youngster.
