Remy speaks about Newcastle’s current state

After a torrid few weeks on Tyneside, Newcastle will play host to the Premier League’s reigning champions, Chelsea, on Saturday. Steve McClaren is already under an intense amount of scrutiny following two successive home defeats to Watford and Sheffield Wednesday respectively.

Former striker Loic Remy looks set to feature against his old club, with Diego Costa serving the first match of his three-game ban. The Frenchman enjoyed a successful loan spell at the club, but rejected the chance to move permanently in his pursuit of Champions League football.

Remy spoke about the awful form his former club are enduring. He said:

I’m surprised at them because they are quite a big, strong team. I am sure they will get better very soon. It’s my old club, so it’s always a pleasure to play against them. But the manager will decide the best team so we’ll see on Saturday.

Remy was a fan favourite on Tyneside, having scored 14 goals in 26 appearances for the Magpies. Given our current problems in front of goal, it’s safe to say that most Newcastle fans would gladly welcome the Frenchman back to the club.

Let’s hope that if he plays on Saturday, he has the worst game of his life. Sorry Loic!
