QPR will consider selling Austin in January

QPR boss Chris Ramsey has admitted that the club would consider selling Charlie Austin in the January transfer window, thus putting Newcastle on alert.

The Chronicle say that Newcastle weren’t willing to meet QPR’s hefty asking price for the striker during the Summer – and that the fee will likely decrease in January as he looks to run his contract down.

Austin recently netted his fifth goal of the Championship season, and Chris Ramsey had this to say about his future:

Everyone has their price. Whatever happens, we have to do what’s best for QPR. If selling Charlie at that time is the right thing for QPR, then I’m sure the owners will make that decision at the time.

We are in a financial situation that we need to address and Charlie as an individual has a dream of playing at Euro 2016. If Charlie performs as he has been the last few games, then I’m sure a Premier League club of his liking will come in for him.

It is understood that Austin is eager to get back into the England team, and when asked about whether Hodgson has been in touch with him, he said:

No, he hasn’t. But I try and put that to the back of my mind. If the England thing happens, then great, but I’m just concentrating on QPR getting promoted

After a long and frustrating transfer saga during the Summer, it looks as if the speculation linking Austin with a move to Tyneside won’t be dying down anytime soon.
