Championship trio plot raid for Newcastle forward

Hull City, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest will all go head-to-head for the signing of French forward Yoan Gouffran when the emergency loan window opens tomorrow, according to the Nottingham Post.

The Tigers currently lead the chase, as per the Hull Daily Mail, though Newcastls’s preference will be with the club prepared to stump up the most money [Loan fee, wage contribution and future fee].

Any deal is likely to include a future fee in the region of £4million but, due to the stature of the clubs accredited with interest, it is unlikely that the full fee will be paid upfront.

Gouffran arrived on Tyneside from Bordeaux in January 2013 for a fee in the region of £1.2million and, while he has hardly impressed in the last few months, the 29-year-old has certainly justified his price-tag.

A dip in form, coupled with the arrival of Florian Thauvin and emergence of Rolando Aarons, has seen Yoan lose his spot in Newcastle’s first-team – much to the delight of the Geordie faithful.
