Vuckic to kickstart his career in the Championship

Haris Vuckic has been linked with an exit from St James’ Park throughout the summer and fresh reports, from the Daily Mail, claim Newcastle have offered the Slovenian striker to a number of clubs for just £450,000.

The 23-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in Turkey, as well as former club Rangers, but Vuckic has set his sights on playing Premier League football one day – and would prefer a move to a promotion-chasing Championship side.

Since signing for Newcastle from Domzale in 2009, Vuckic has made just 19 appearances, scoring once in the process. In order to aid his development, the club sent him out on loan to Cardiff City and Rotherham United, but he failed to impress on both occasions.

Last season, Vuckic followed four Newcastle teammates across the border to Rangers, in a desperate attempt to kickstart his career. He netted nine goals in 13 appearances (including several coming off the bench) before returning to Tyneside, eyeing a first-team spot.

However, following discussions with Steve McClaren, Vuckic was told he was not a part of the new boss’ plans and was allowed to find a club.
