Gabby has been given a new lease of life under Steve McClaren, but the arrival of Florian Thauvin from Marseille is likely to force the former Manchester United wide-man further down the pecking order. With just 12 months remaining on his current contract, he is expected to head out the exit door before the window slams shut.
While Yoan Gouffran has been told he is not part of Steve McClaren’s plans and is free to leave the club this summer.
With Thauvin and Sissoko occupying the two wide positions when fit and Aarons & Perez posing as back-up, the departures of the fringe duo won’t make much of an impact on McClaren’s squad.
