Newcastle line-up Ligue 1 double swoop

Newcastle United are hoping to complete a Ligue 1 double swoop before the transfer window slams shut, reports La Provence.

The French news outlet claims the Thauvin deal is edging closer to completion, with the player now aware that he has played his final game for the French outfit. The clubs have agreed a fee in the region of €17million, plus €3million in bonuses, and Newcastle hope to wrap up the deal this week,

Thauvin will be doubling his current salary by joining Newcastle, with a proposed €3million salary on the table from the Magpies.

As part of the deal, Remy Cabella will then join Marseille on a season-long loan, with a view to permanent.

Thauvin is due on Tyneside tomorrow, as per RMC Sport, to finalise personal terms ahead of a medical on Wednesday.

Once this deal has been finalised, Newcastle will then reignite their interest in Tunisian international Aymen Abdennour, but he will not come cheaply. In order to fend off stiff competition from Juventus and Barcelona, Newcastle would have to make Aymen the highest paid player at the club.

FootMercato confirms the 26-year-old will leave AS Monaco this summer, but the Ligue 1 outfit have slapped a €25million (roughly £18million when converted to sterling) price-tag on his head.
