Haris Vuckic to leave Newcastle

Haris Vuckic to leave Newcastle

According to the Chronicle, Haris Vuckic has admitted that he wants to leave Newcastle, after being told that he is surplus to requirements by Steve McClaren.

The Slovenian wants to leave so he can get regular first-team football – something that he rarely received on Tyneside. He has been speaking to the media in Slovenia and this is what he had to say to them:

“It’s true, I’m going. I spoke with the coach [Steve McClaren] who did not see me in his plans, so we all together decided that (was) the best way for me.”

“I respect the decision of the coach and go on. I think I am well prepared and even more so, I am determined. I want (to go to) somewhere where I will play.”

Vuckic signed for Newcastle in 2008 from Domzale and has only made 7 first-team appearances since then. He has spent time on loan at Cardiff City, Rotherham and Rangers. The latter are said to be keen on signing the 22-year-old after he impressed at Ibrox last season – scoring 8 goals in 17 appearances.

Vuckic rarely had a good game for Newcastle, and it’s clear to see he’s not Premier League standard. Turkish club Antalyaspor are also said to be in the frame for his signature.
